Sightseeing:

Ithaca (sometimes spelled Ithaka) is one of the Ionian Islands in Greece

Steeped in history, the horseshoe-shaped harbor of Vathi beckons you to explore. This is the island’s capital, featuring quaint pastel-colored houses cascading down the hillside.

More than half of Ithaca's beaches are accessible only by sea. If you do not own a yacht or a speedboat, you can rent a small boat to visit them. No special permit is required by law for boats with an engine of less than 30hp.

Nearby Places:

Kathara Monastery, Anogi, Ithaca (From Vathi take the road to Stavros. About 8km outside Vathi follow the road sign towards Kathara Monastery). Historic monastery and church. Build around 1700A.D. on 600m height. Great view of Vathi bay

Public Services: open Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 2.00pm.
Retail Stores & Specialty Shops: Monday to Friday, 9am – 1.30pm and then again from 5pm – 9pm. Saturdays, 9am – 2pm.    
Supermarkets: Monday to Friday, 9am – 9pm, and Saturdays, 9am – 6pm.
Tourist Shops and Convenience Stores: most of these do not have official opening hours and are usually open from dawn to well after midnight during the summer months.
