Located on a long, sheltered bay on the northern tip of Cephalonia, lovely Fiskardo is unique on the island in that it was largely spared by the 1953 earthquake that devastated most of the other island villages. As a result, its waterfront is the only one here that still features the pastel-painted Venetian-style houses that once prevailed.

A popular excursion is a boat ride into the sunken cavern and sky-blue subterranean Melissani Lake.
2 car rental companies, Pama travel, and Litsos. Pama are based up the stairs next door to Captains Cabin, they serve primarily Ionian Island holidays. Litsos have an office above their restaurant - Roulas and below the family home just outside the village and before the hill leading to the Emelisse and Almyra Hotels.
