Aviles is a port city in the province of Asturias in northwest Spain. The port is located a short walk from old town.
The Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center, the only work of art in Spain of this Brazilian architect, is set besides the port facilities, on terrains that used to be part of the port esplanades.

The old town of Aviles is a largely pedestrianized quarter gathered around the Plaza de Espana.
